Feature&Follow #2: Birthday Wishes

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

Today's question:
- Birthday Wishes — Blow out the candles and imagine what character could pop out of your cake…who is it and what book are they from??

Aaaaah, that's a nice one! There are plenty of characters I would like to meet; first of all Jace, from The Mortal Instruments, who has been my book boyfriend since I've read the first line of City of Bones. But WAIT, I've already mentioned TMI two weeks ago so, for thi FF I'll choose Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Damn, he's so hot! I would love to see him popping out of my cake, especially if he is Ben Barnes, from the movie adaptation of the book. It 'a really complicated but fascinating character !

What's Next? #1

What's Next? Hosted by IceyBooks

What's next? is a weekly meme hosted by Icey Books
every Thursday. The aim of this meme is to receive our readers' opinion
about what should be our next read!

Here are the rules:

-Select three-five books (not too many, not too little!) that you want to read but can't decide which one to read first.

-Post the cover, and if you want, the synopsis or even a random line from the book, for each of your selections.

-At the end of your post, ask readers to vote on which one you should read next!

The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)
From Goodreads:
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)From Goodreads:
When literature student Anastasia Steele is drafted to interview the successful young entrepreneur Christian Grey for her campus magazine, she finds him attractive, enigmatic and intimidating. Convinced their meeting went badly, she tries to put Grey out of her mind - until he happens to turn up at the out-of-town hardware store where she works part-time. The unworldly, innocent Ana is shocked to realize she wants this man, and when he warns her to keep her distance it only makes her more desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her - but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny. Can their relationship transcend physical passion? Will Ana find it in herself to submit to the self-indulgent Master? And if she does, will she still love what she finds? Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

ForbiddenFrom Goodreads:
She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed. He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. And now they have fallen in love. But... they are brother and sister.

Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives—and the way they understand each other so completely—has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending

So vote, what should I read next?

From Goodreads:
When Kitty Tylney’s best friend, Catherine Howard, worms her way into King Henry VIII’s heart and brings Kitty to court, she’s thrust into a world filled with fabulous gowns, sparkling jewels, and elegant parties. No longer stuck in Cat’s shadow, Kitty’s now caught between two men—the object of her affection and the object of her desire. But court is also full of secrets, lies, and sordid affairs, and as Kitty witnesses Cat’s meteoric rise and fall as queen, she must figure out how to keep being a good friend when the price of telling the truth could literally be her head.

Why I wanna read this book? Because I love historical romances and above all I'm so intrigued by The Borgia's family and the Tudors' dinasty. Besides, I love the cover, that little touch of red on her lips is simply amazing. Scandal, court intrigues, what else?
I can't wait to put my hand on it!

Hey Guys! Today I have the pleasure to partecipate in an awesome book tour!

Published: June 13th 2012
Number of Pages: 503
Purchase: Amazon, Smashwords

Everyone has a soul mate. But what do you do when your soul mate would rather give his soul to the demons than be with you?

Seventeen-year-old Erin has a problem. Seth has been hers forever, but now an ancient promise is tearing him away. And Reuel, the demon to whom the promise was made, will stop at nothing to force Seth to forsake Erin and to worship him.
How can Erin win against a pledge so binding that it has damned countless others to the same fate she and Seth will face if Reuel wins – an eternity alone?
The answer lies in the past. To find it, Erin and Seth must risk all, travelling back in time to a dangerous world where love is forbidden, and life – and death – hang on a promise.
Follow Erin and Seth as they travel to ancient Shenaya to break the pledge that has plagued their families for millennia. Caught in a war between the Angelic Guardians and the Gefallen, the disembodied dead, they must fight to keep their souls in tact and their love untainted.

About the author:

I have spent my entire life living in a parallel universe of make-believe characters, only coming back to reality for long enough to check that no one burnt the house down in my absence. A few years ago I decided to commit some of those ‘friends’ and their stories to paper. The Soul Wars Saga is the result of those efforts. Before that I co-authored two non-fiction travel books – The Complete Guide to 4x4 Trails and The Ultimate 4x4 Guide. Both books became instant best-sellers in South Africa where I live. And before that even, I studied a degree in African History and Politics at the University of Stellenbosch. When I’m not writing, I am a wife to Andrew and a mom to Stephanie, Erin, and Kate, our teenage daughters. My family and I live in a small town outside Cape Town with two dogs, a cat, a horse, and some neglected fish. Now that you know a little about me, I would love to get to know you. Book Under Spotlight: Superheroes Wear Faded Denim

Superheroes Wear Faded Denim
Author: Law Reigns
Published: May 20th 2012
Number of pages: 428
Purchase: Amazon

Blissany Cherry is tired of sleeping around. Her neurologists’ sleep solutions have failed her. Now that her bizarre sleeping habits have begun to include week long dreams she has resorted to her own methods for a cure.
METHOD ONE: CONTROL DREAMS. All attempts to morph dreams about a gorgeous warrior into romantic fantasies are thwarted. He keeps on insisting she is destined to marry a great king and lead their armies into war. At the end of every dream he asks her: will you fight the war and save mankind?
She laughs in his face.
METHOD TWO: RESIST! Blissany has plans for her life. None include fighting an intergalactic war.  When her dreams begin spilling over into reality, she is forced to make a decision that will forever redefine her life. Standing between destiny and desire, she is left with only one option.

Aren't you curious about this book? So intriguing! And now for your joy, my readers, the author has kindly provided me of an excerpt of her book:
The Little Wife:
Excerpt from my new adult fantasy romance, Superheroes Wear Faded Denim.
Wanikiya Worhoarse may be a distant, wealthy bachelor with dark secrets, but he has a heart. One he wishes to share with Blissany. Having kindled a deep friendship with Blissany unlike any he has ever experienced, he finally musters up the courage to confess his true feelings.

“Don’t insult my intelligence, Blissany. You are my best friend. I have fallen in love with you over the last 4 years. I want us to be more than friends. I want you to be my own body, my own flesh.”
That was his odd way of saying he wanted to make her his little wife. She swallowed. She could just imagine it. At first he would give her the world, spending thousands of dollars to make her wedding everything that she wanted. Demi would be so jealous. Then when they finally married, she’d be expected to do nothing. Wanikiya would go off to work every day leaving her to achieve her dreams of becoming an artist. He’d buy her gifts like BMWs and trips to Maui, feed her steak dinners, and take her on weekend excursions to Europe. What about sex? She imagined they would have missionary sex which would inevitably become dull after several years of marriage. The allure of the money would wear off as well. Sooner or later Wanikiya would age beyond her level of human understanding. He already had the wisdom of a 70-year-old seer.
What would he be like when he was 30? He’d probably start speaking to her in psalms, developing expectations she become a religious leader like him. She’d fail miserably. He would become disappointed with her. She’d want lots of sex. He would think she was a fiend. Soon enough she would be known as that little wife who failed to rise to her husband’s standards. Pictures of her straying off to have love affairs would become viral video blogs.
“Oh God no,” Blissany began in horror. The image was an ulcer festering in her mind. “It wouldn’t work out. I can’t.”
The force of her declaration threw Wanikiya backwards. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, searching for something to say. He held secrets in his eyes, deeper thoughts he didn’t want to share with her. There had never been any secrets between them, but just before Blissany could ask him what was on his mind, he asked, “What if I told you I’m not who you think I am?”
“Who are you?”
“I’m serious. What if I told you those people you asked about were vampires?”
She was beginning to lose patience with him. Her whole day was going crazy. The one person she needed to give her sanity was not being any help. “I’d say you were mean for making fun of their pale skin color.”
“What if I told you I could fly or those animals out there are angel-like beings from another realm transformed into animals? If you went up to them to talk, they’d talk back.”
“Wanikiya, I’m not marrying you. If you flew out that window to talk to some flamingo it would only prove I’m not the woman for you. The kind of guy with those kinds of skills needs a spectacular girl. I’m not a spectacular girl.”
“I think you should believe in magic. It would make what’s happening easier for you to handle.” She refused to accept what she was hearing. “We live in this normal world where birds fly and people talk. If that world exists, where people fly and vampires live, I don’t want to know about it because normal people don’t know about it.”
Wanikiya laughed. “So you just want to live in ignorance?”
“I don’t want to be that emo kid who’s the only one in the world that knows vampires exist. That’s not normal.”
“You’re not normal.”
“My mother says I am.”
“Maybe your mother doesn’t understand normalcy.”
Maybe mother didn’t. Wanikiya sat on the edge of the window pane. He rested his head against the wall, staring out at all the animals who were staring in at him. She figured he wasn’t going to say anything more.
“I’ll see you next Sunday.” She cautiously backed out of the room.
He never turned to watch her leave.

11 Random Facts about me:
1. I'm Italian but I'm looking forward to finish High School, so that I can leave my country and continue study abroad.

4. I'm seriously in love with Jace Wayland and Alex Pettyfer.

9. I love high-waisted skirts :D
10. I'm currently studying languages (french, spanish, english)
11. I'm extremely determined and stubborn **

Questions from Aliaa:
1. What's your most embarassing moment?
Mmm, I have so many embarrassing moments to list! I'm a VERY clumsy person, I always feel uncomfortable in front of people I do not know well and, as a result, I act very strangely in their presence. Just today I was cycling toward my school, thinking that I was the only one there because school has finished more than a month ago; conversely lots of guys were there and I fell from my bicycle, in front of them... NO KIDDING! .-.

2. Have you ever?
What? LOL. I've never been on a roller coaster before, if you wanna know. (:

3. Which book heroine would you like to switch places with?
Maybe this is an overused character, but my favourite heroine will always be Katniss, from The Hunger Games. She has such a strong personality!

4. What's your favourite midnight snack?
Chocolate, of course! I could be eating chocolate at every time of the day, in every season or circumstances.

5. Girl's night out or girl's night in?
It 's very sad, I know, but I love staying home terribly. I'm sixteen but nevertheless I'm a little old, home-lover, lady.

6. Which book can you never stop reading?
Well, I LOVE the "Mortal Instruments" saga and I'm planning to re-read all the books very soon. I think I've never felt so drawn to a book, as with TMI. Aren't they all amazing?!

7. When did you start blogging?
I've decided to launch my own blog less than a month ago. I started blogging, actually, on final period of May and it has become and addiction! I'm always looking forward to share with my (few) readers, my thoughts about the books I read.

8. When did your addiction to books start?
Since I was a baby I was used to read tons of books by my mother; I remember that when I was a little baby, like 7-8 years old I started to read "Mickey Mouse"'s comincs and, as I grew older, I focused my attention on Manga and Anime. With the released of the Twilight Saga (that I personally didn't like that much) I got interested in the world of Paranormal/Fantasy and related genres.

9. Family or best friends?
Absolutely family! Personally, I do not have many friends because I received lots of delusions by some of them. As we say in Italy, true friends can be counted on your fingers! So, in my opinion, we should never push away our parents because they're the only ones who will always be by our side, no matter what. (How Romantic!! *w*)

10, If you could live anywhere in the worlds (existing and fictional) where would you live?
That's a tough one! In the real world I would choose the USA, without any doubts; speaking of fictional, I would choose Pandora ( you know Avatars' world). I've seen the film a years ago and it's amazing! Full of flowers, colors and beautiful animals! **

11. Can you live without blogging?
Of course not!

Blogs I'm tagging:

My Questions:
1.  Sweet or savory?
2. What's your book boyfriend?
3. Your favourite book ever (not of a series!) ?
4. Beach or mountain?
5. Who's your favourite author and why?
6. What you would like to say to him/her if you get the chance to meet her/him?
7. Why did you start blogging?
8. What's your favourite weekly meme?
9. Skirts or pants?
10. What are you currently reading?
11. Describe yourself in three words.

Review: Resurrection by Jennifer Hartz

Future Savior #2

Author: Jennifer Hartz
Released: May 31st 2012
Format: eBook
Puchase: Desert Breeze Publishing, Amazon

From Goodreads:
Time matters very little when you're dead. I discovered this intriguing fact after being tortured and stabbed to a tree in the strange land of Meric, a place where I discovered my unbelievable powers and experienced an adventure far more amazing than I could have ever imagined. Now that I'm dead, I find myself stuck in my past, 1991 to be exact… or am I actually dead? Perhaps my adventure to Meric had just been a dream. My unbelievable destiny, all of the friends I made, and even Shaw, the man I fell in love with… just a dream?

My Review:

Resurrection is the second book in the Future Savior series by Jennifer Hartz.
I really enjoyed book one, so, after the immense kindness of the author, who helped me a lot with the launch of my blog, I decided to start book two, for following the adventures of Christina, Shaw, Jonus and so on. Moreover I was very curious about the following book because the ending of book one was really breathtaking!

In "Resurrection" Christina is forced to face the strongness of her powers and the responsabilities that she needs to take on. The second book is full of lovely events and it is more focused on the love, blossomed between Shaw and Christina. As always, there will be a shocking final twist at the end of the book, that will make you want to know more and start immediately book three. I do not want to write a summary of the book because I hadn't told much about the events in book one so, summarising book two would mean spoilering and spoilering would mean ruining the book. (:

Sincerely, I enjoyed more book one. Most of the ones who have read the series thought that book two was the best among the three but, in my opinion, book one was fuller of tension, suspense and, above all, it gave more room to the description of all the characters. I loved how the author developed the story between the two main characters but, personally, I would have loved to see more of the others, too. By the way, there was one character that was particulary interesting during the book and he was Prince Jonus, Prince of the Elfs. I've never felt attached to him because I could sense his jealousy toward Shaw and Christina so, I was not surprised of his betrayal in book two! In that part of the book I was very involved in the story and I think this is because the author used a fantastic tecnique to make the book more engaging: Christina's powers make her have some visions, about the past, the future, or the present; during the book, the routine of the plot was often positively stopped by Christina's visions, that inform the reader about everything was going on far from the protagonist, or they bring to the surface secrets of the past. It will be a vision, in fact, that will reveal Christina, the secret of Prince Jonus and this skill couldn't have been used more properly: the visions teleport the reader to the past, and in the mean time he/she is still anchored to the present, letting you the possibility to follow the events in different dimensions! Also the beginning of the book was really interesting from this point of view because past, present and future were intertwined and I really couldn't figure out in which temporal dimension were the characters!

The romantic progress in this book is noticeable and the love story is well-developped; Shaw and Christina finally together are adorable but, their relationship is not meant to live without complications! I personally love the soft romanticism of the author and the way she always introduces something to interfere with the utopia of a perfect love.
What I very missed in book two is the harshness and the warrior climate that was constantly present in the first book! Logically, there were battles and wars during the book but they were always seen from distance or through Christina's visions.
In the end I really liked "Resurrection" even if I prefer "Conception"; in book two we have the possibility to know more about the past and about the protagonist and her family. I really enjoyed that the author has dedicated some space to Rayliex, Leticia's son and a character that I personally love. As in City of Lost Souls, I feel extremely attached to the characters who seem to be devilish but they are only the victim of their parents' influence.
I really can't wait to read book three because the story is so full of twists and buried secrets, to be revealed in the following book.

Resurrections is a well written book, with a pinch of humor and romanticism, that will lead you through Christina's past present and future. Will she be
able to save Meric after all she faced during this book? Read to know!

By Lauren DeStefano

From Goodreads:
Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness. The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the any means necessary. In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.

I've read Wither a couple of months ago and I have to say that I really liked it! Nevertheless, the ending, didn't make me think about a sequel; even if there were lots of mysteries that hadn't been solved, Gabriel and Rhine had escaped and it didn't seem there were going to be problems about that. But now, I'm so excited about the sequel that I can't wait to put my hands on it!! The distophian world that the author created is really intriguing and I hope she will continue in creating amazing twists and harsh situations.

Have you already read Fever? Do you think is a good sequel to Wither?

What's on your wishlist? ^^

Memorable Monday - The Mockingjay

Memorable Mondays is a weekly meme hosted by Escape in A Book,

where we can share a quote(or quotes) that we feel deserves a place in the spotlight.  I can't wait to read the quote you've picked this week!

I decided to partecipate to this meme because I love memes, in general,
but also because I love quotes!! And I love sharing quotes from my
favourite book. This week's quote is from one of my favourite
books ever, The Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.

"On the night I feel that thing again, the hunger that overtook me on the beach,
I know this would have happened anyway. That what I need to survive is not
Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need
is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth
instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses.
That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that. So after, when he whispers," You love
me, Real or Not Real?" I tell him " Real".

Yes, this quote had been overused what I still shivers
when I read it, so romantic and just the perfect ending to
a beautiful trilogy!

What's your memorable quote Monday?

From Goodreads:
Twenty-year-old Ward de’Ath expected this to be a simple job—bring a nobleman’s daughter back from the dead for fifteen minutes, let her family say good-bye, and launch his fledgling career as a necromancer. Goddess knows he can’t be a surgeon—the Quayestri already branded him a criminal for trying—so bringing people back from the dead it is.

But when Ward wakes the beautiful Celia Carlyle, he gets more than he bargained for. Insistent that she’s been murdered, Celia begs Ward to keep her alive and help her find justice. By the time she drags him out her bedroom window and into the sewers, Ward can’t bring himself to break his damned physician’s Oath and desert her.

However, nothing is as it seems—including Celia. One second, she’s treating Ward like sewage, the next she’s kissing him. And for a nobleman’s daughter, she sure has a lot of enemies. If he could just convince his heart to give up on the infuriating beauty, he might get out of this alive..
